Never run lone Occultist as sole healer.Ĭrusader and Flagellant are strong off-healers.Īt ~元, they can both be sole healer, if the rest of your party wins fights fast. But at that point, why don't you just use a Plague Doctor or something better? So it feels like you would still need to use a Vestal on top of your Occultist if you wanted to put him into the party. So what's the point of using an Occultist as a healer? Feels like the Vestal is mandatory in any/every party, since she's the only competent healing class in the game. This is probably worse than 1/1000 all combined, I'm thinking. So the exact combination of my death was that the Occultist performed three non-actions, I incurred a wild crit, and then my Occultist dealt the deathblow to my own character. (The chances of two consecutive 0s are less than 1/100, right?) Then on the HM's third turn, he dies to the Bleed damage. On the third turn, I heal the HM for 0 again. On the second turn, I heal the HM for 0 with the Occultist and inflict Bleeding status on him.

On either the first or second round, my Houndmaster takes a crit for 18 damage which knocks him down from full HP to like 20%. On the first round I tried to use the Eldritch Pull with the Occultist, but he misses. So then I encounter a random room encounter. I was cruising and probably didn't even need to, but whatever.

I was in a Medium dungeon on like week 5, and I was like 75% of the way thru the rooms, so I decided to use my camp and buff up + heal to full.

It's like I can't even believe that this actually happened (except that this is Darkest Dungeon for you.) But the exact circumstance of my incredible misfortune still lingers with me. I tried to pick this game back up recently, but the game immediately indicated to me that it was not in a good mood, so I had to put it back down and move on to something else.
